There are pictures below, but I mentioned in yesterday's post that I would tell a small story.
Tuesday night Joel had the opportunity of having a a leader from another troop come up to him and introdunce himself, "My name is _______, and I am looking for a Melchizedek Priesthood holder." This man was here from Texas with a non-LDS troop and his son was having respiratory problems. He is a member and so he asked the staff if there was a LDS troop in the camp and then set out to find us. We are the only LDS troop up here this week and we were lucky enough to be the first camp site in a very long row of camp sites. Joel knew that we had consicrated oil, but didn't know where.
Both of them started to look for us. They looked high and low and one of the scouts we were with found out and he started to run all over camp trying to find the rest of the leaders. We were finally found. We then administer to the young man. A few other thing transpired, but to make a long story short, the following morning as we were eating breakfast the father came in. He reported that his son was doing miraculously well and that he would be allowed to do things again.
The reason I told you this story is to help you understand the kind of boys we as leaders get to be around on a frequent basis. The young man who ran did not need to, but he choose to magnify his priesthood by helping a fellow brother in need. He went far above what was expected. During the campfire on Tuesday night we talked about how important it is to be ready to serve and be worthy when called upon to administer. This young man was an example of this to your boys and to us as leaders .
NOW FOR THE PICTURES!!!!!
He actually admitted that camp was "Awesome." Don't tell him we told you.
We had heard the the food here was sub-par, but all of the leaders feel that it is pretty good stuff. Especially our special leaders lunch yesterday. Fresh trout, hush puppies, corn. potato salad and banana pudding for dessert.
Some of the boys on the climbing wall
Today was fishing day. They restocked the lake while we were at lunch. All the boys were catching fish.
